I reside in La Conner, Washington, near the San Juan Islands. Just below the Canadian border. However, I was born in the gulf coast region of Alabama, and subsequently lived in Ft.Worth, Texas.
Although most of my adult life has been spent in Washington, my emotional formation was constructed in the deep south.
I was educated at The University of Texas at Arlington, where I had a marvelous English professor, Jean Ford, who introduced me to literature, and later to writing. I will always be indebted to her. Later, I attended the outstanding Writer's Series at The University of Washington.
I have a one-eyed cat, Mister, that helps me at the computer.
Poetry has been the mainstay of my writing for about 20 years. But in the past few years, I have started telling stories of childhood in the south, and have had several short stories published.
I am also a singer/songwriter.
